JANET MACDONALD

On Thursday, March 20, 2014, Janet MacDonald passed away peacefully at the Grace Hospital after a very brief illness at the age of 82 years.

Janet is survived and remembered by her brother, Fr. J. Winston Rye, S.J.; son Ian; daughter Cathy (Brett MacKinnon); grandsons Chris and Derek (Caitlin Wiens); sister-in-law Marie MacDonald, nieces; nephew; cousins; and friends and neighbours. She was predeceased by her husband Mac (Gerry) in 1986; son Neil in 2010; brother Albert in 1995; and her parents.
Mom was born in Winnipeg and lived her entire life in her beloved St. James. She was a caring person along with being a very independent soul. Despite this very cold winter, it did not stop her from getting out and walking in her neighbourhood even though she was unwell. Mom was always up for a family get together; a glass of wine with neighbours; puttering in the garden or just chatting on the phone with family, friends and her cousin Vivian. She was so looking forward to the upcoming wedding of her grandson Derek. She loved her time at the family cottage in Grand Marais. In her younger years, spending the summers there with us and then weekends until the climb up the "hill" became too much. Mom never missed a beat when it came to church and St. Paul's was "her place" as she would refer to it. She will be missed by many of her church friends.
Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 2400 Portage Avenue with Janet’s brother , Fr. J. Winston Rye, S.J., presiding. A private family Interment will take place in Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 2B7.

DAVID ANTHONY MORRIS

Peacefully, and with his family by his side, David passed away on Friday, March 14, 2014. He is survived and lovingly remembered by his son Andrew; daughter Dana; son-in-law Jamie and treasured granddaughter Amelia; brothers John (Ann), Patrick (Sandy), Gordon (Cheryl), Bernard (Sheila) and Jeff (Sharon); sisters Betty, Irene, Mary Ann and Diane (Gil); sisters-in-law Sonja and Irene (George); as well as many cousins; nieces; nephews and friends.  He was predeceased by Jenni, his loving wife of 45 years; parents Henry and Catherine Morris; brothers Harry and Sidney; sisters Kathleen and Winnifred; brothers-in-law Leifur and Denny; sisters-in-law Barbara and Kay; and mother-in-law Karolina.
David was born September 5, 1945 in Winnipeg, where he lived his entire life.  He was a quiet man with a wonderful sense of humour and was well liked by everyone who had the fortune to meet him.  He worked in the fire and safety business, most recently with Reliant Action.  He enjoyed his job, taking pride in his work and making many friends along the way.  He also enjoyed sports, playing poker, traveling, and spending time at the lake with his family.  He was very involved in the community, coaching many of his children’s sports teams.  Above all, he was a devoted son, brother, husband, father and grandfather.
Cremation has taken place.  As per David’s wishes, no funeral will be held.  Family and friends are invited to a gathering in David’s memory on Friday, March 28, 2014 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Masonic Centre, 420 Corydon Ave (at the southeast corner of Confusion Corner).  A light lunch will be served and all are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a donation to a charity of their choice in David’s memory.

We love you Dad and Gramps.
You will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

but laugh and talk of me as if I were beside you there."
